Dear Prospective Project:MASA Artist,
Thank you for your interest in Project:MASA #3. Currently you can go to the Project Masa Website at website- www.projectmasa.com for photos and information of the 2006 Exhibition at Gallista Gallery. Also, the entire site will be upgraded and completed by the summer of ’07. We are currently developing an indepth artist list by including artist bios and resumes in archives that will be made available for curators, educators, and the community at large. This has proven useful and there have already been requests for Project:MASA artists to participate in other exhibitions based on the work from the two previous shows. We are developing a video page on our website that will contain audio and video interviews of Project:MASA artists as well as the transcripts of the interviews. We believe this opportunity to document and make information available is the next step in our goal of increasing the awareness of issues that affect us all through the literal and metaphoric use of outer space by Chican@ artists.
One of our goals has always been to improve the exhibit each year; this year our commitment reaches new heights. It is our pleasure to announce that Project:MASA #3 will be held at the Instituto de Mexico at Hemisphere Park in San Antonio September 2007. This is a major accomplishment for Project:MASA. We feel that this dedication to excellence will play a major role in attaining a traveling exhibition travel at major museum nationally and internationally.
We would like to welcome new advisors to Project:MASA; a group of raza artist that are committed to accomplish our goals as an alliance. This team of advisors and contributors to Project:MASA include the following: Arturo Almeida- Curator/UTSA Art Specialist, Ricky Armendariz- Artist/ Professor, Rolando Briseño-Cultural Adjustor/Artist, Luis Garza- Artist/Photographer, John Phillip Santos-Author/ Rhodes Scholar, Laura Varela Filmmaker/Media Artist, Cathryn Merla Watson Ph.D. candidate in American Studies.
